Born February 19, 1919 in Dresden, TN, peacefully passed away in St. Johns, MI on October 10, 2010 at the age of 91. His homes were located in Chippewa Lake, MI and Frostproof, FL. He was the founder and original owner of G&W Washer, Inc., which began in 1945 and was later cited as excelling among the best appliance service in the nation. Upon Dad’s retirement, his son took over the duties of ownership and escalated it to four stores in the surrounding areas, and it is still in operation today. Being a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club, Coy enjoyed the chairmanship of the bingo games, raising thousands of dollars for the community; fish dinners for the club; and other charities. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, snowmobiling in the early days, visiting friends and neighbors and playing Skipbo. He leaves behind his son Coy L. (Nancy) Woodruff of DeWitt; daughter Charlotte (John) Shaver, of St. Johns; many nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Preceding him in death, in addition to his siblings, were his daughter, Norma Jean Hedberg, his granddaughter, Jolynn Hedberg, his great-grandson Zachary Hedberg, and his beloved wife of 59 years, Edith Woodruff. Inseparable in this life, they are now together forever in eternity. They were lifelong members of the Church of Christ. Their happiness touched all of our lives. We will always love “Grain and Granddad”. A memorial service will be held at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2010.
