Robert A. Steitz

Robert A. “Bob” Steitz, 61, of Savanna, IL, passed away May 24, 2017. Beloved husband of 13 years to Genevieve; cherished father of James Steitz; dear son-in-law of Sonny and Carol Abbinante; fond brother of Perry Steitz and brother-in-law of Michael, Sonny Jr., and David (Jennifer) Abbinante; uncle of many.

Bob was a serious Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed the outdoors, the Mississippi River and sharing pictures of sunsets and sunrises with Genevieve. Bob enjoyed Eagle watching, road trips, cheesecake, apple pie, fishing, wineries and was very fascinated by trains. He loved Stars Wars and John Wayne. He also loved bird watching from his cottage deck. Bob liked traveling, having visited 36 states, including an Alaskan cruise, with his wife. Bob also loved his dog, Jack. He cherished the friendships with his coworkers at FedEx at O'Hare Airport, some of whom he worked with for nearly 40 years. Bob only had one job after high school, and that was with Flying Tigers and then FedEx when they were bought out. Bob was very proud to have worked for Flying Tigers and FedEx.

Bob was a good, generous man who loved life. He loved everyone and everyone loved him.

A memorial visitation will be held at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, on Saturday, June 10, 2017, from 1-4 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name may be made to American Diabetes Association, 55 E. Monroe Street #3420, Chicago, IL 60603 or www.diabetes.org.
