James G. Bennett

James G. Bennett, 84, of Des Plaines, IL was born on March 22, 1935 in Oak Park to the late Gordon and Patricia (nee Tinsley) Bennett and passed away surrounded by family on March 2, 2020. James was the beloved husband of the late JoAnn Bennett. Loving father to James (Evie) Bennett, Louis (Maria) Caruso, and Michael (Carol Lynn) Caruso; loving Papa to Katie, Sofia, Cassie, Paul, Bianca, Alec, and Izzy. He was a wonderful friend to many.

James attended Western Illinois University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in teaching.

After graduation he got a job at Chicago Public Schools teaching elementary.

Apart from teaching he was a founder and President of Northwest Cab and Northwest Package Delivery.

James had great respect and admiration for the military and local armed forces, and was active in the Schiller Park Lions Club and a member of the Des Plaines Elks Club.

He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his wife JoAnn of 35 years.

We will never forget his great sense of humor and flare for telling stories.

James loved being social and surrounding himself with people; he was the kind of person that could make friends anywhere he was. James left an impression on every person he met and was truly unforgettable, we will keep him in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be held on March 14, 2020 from 9 AM to time of service at 11 AM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL 60016, followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery, 700 N. River Rd. Des Plaines, IL.
