Margaret Ann Smith Johnson, 81, passed surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Christus St. Patrick’s Hospital. She was born to parents William Ernie and Marguerite Smith on January 15, 1936 in DeQuincy, LA. She was involved in many activities including playing organ for many years in the DeQuincy United Methodist Church; member of the United Methodist Women; Pink Ladies Volunteer; along with Dixie Youth Baseball Volunteer. She worked at Browning’s Jewelry, 5 & 10 store, and Foster Tractors.
She is survived by her two sons, Charles M. Johnson and wife Debbie, Darrell L. Johnson, both of DeQuincy; two brothers, Edwin Smith and wife Joy Faye of Tyler, TX., Erwin Smith and wife Maxine of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law, Lois Smith of Sulphur; four grandchildren, Tara Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Christopher Pharis, Haley Bertrand; along with eight great grandchildren.
Margaret is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Huey P. Johnson; parents; one brother, Charles A. Smith; along with a grandchild, Taylor Ryan Johnson.
Services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the DeQuincy United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at Hixson Snider Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 5:00-9:00pm and will resume on Thursday at the church, from 10:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy. Rev. James Barrett officiating
