Mr. Bruce H Rivers, Sr., 87 of DeQuincy passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at his home with his loving wife at his side. He was born July 6, 1928 to Eula and Tom Rivers. Mr. Rivers proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force for over 20 years retiring in 1966 at the rank of Tech Sgt. He was assigned to the 51st Fighter Interceptor Wing during the Korean War. He married his wife, Mary, in 1952 and together they have five children. Bruce and Mary made DeQuincy their home in 1973 where Mr. Rivers worked at LCIS. He retired from the State of Louisiana in 1990 and enjoyed a lengthy retirement. Mr. Rivers is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Rivers, and three sons and their families, Monty and Brenda, Clay and Ginger, Bruce Jr. and Michelle and a daughter, Tricia and Nat; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Darrell, his parents and all of his siblings. Visitation will be on Friday, January 15 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Hixon-Snider Funeral Home with recitation of rosary at 6:15. Visitation will resume at Hixon-Snider at 8 a.m. on Saturday, January 16 with Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church officiated by Father Ed Brunnert. Burial wiil be at Masonic Cemetery. Special thank you to Father Ed Brunnert, Dr. Judah and his staff, DeQuincy Memorial Hospital staff and DeQuincy Home Health staff.
