Martha “Alice” Miller (Barrett) was born on February 19, 1921 along with her twin sister Alene in Percival Iowa to the parents of George and Mintie Miller. Alice went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2014, she was 93.
Alice married Ralph Barrett on June 17, 1939 and lived in Shenandoah, Iowa with five children: Connie, Janice, Michael, George and Nancy before moving to Denver, Colorado in 1955.
Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She loved babies and was always so excited when she was blessed with a new family member.
Alice enjoyed sitting down and embroidering gifts for family members. She was a Denver Broncos fan and could be very vocal if they were not playing well. She was an excellent cook and after her children left home she went to work as a kitchen manager/ cook at a nursing home where she truly enjoyed preparing good meals for the elderly residents and received many compliments, praises and respect from everyone she worked around.
Alice was small in size but extremely large in her toughness and fiery spirit. She was loved by all her family and will be deeply missed but relieved in knowing that she is with our Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, daughters Connie, Janice and Nancy. She is survived by sons Michael Barrett (Ruth Ann) and George Barrett (Dianna), sister Louise Gilbert, son in law Hayes Chambers, 12 grandchildren and many great and great- great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM , Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Olinger Moore Howard Chapel, 4345 W. 46th Ave., Denver, CO.
