Larry Eugene Vance of Aurora, Colorado passed away on July 6, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 5, 1942, in Sterling, Colorado to Francis (Hank) and Lucille Vance. Survived by his wife Marie and sons Bradley and Brian (Jes) and granddaughters Charlotte and Annabelle. Preceded in death by his parents and brother C. James Sparks.
Larry having grown up in Sterling he graduated from Sterling High School in 1960. He enjoyed playing drums in different bands though high school and even enjoyed the hobby long afterward. He graduated from Denver Technical College in 1964 and started working for architectural and engineering firms in Sterling and Denver. Then In 1968 he moved to Denver where he began working for R. W. Beck and Associates, a construction engineering company while also attending The University of Denver Business Management program. In the meantime, he also obtained his real estate broker’s license. In 1984 he started working for United Bank of Denver (which later became Norwest Banks and then Wells Fargo Bank) and began as a senior facilities project manager for building out the atrium at the downtown bank among many other projects. He was also a property, facilities and fleet manager in Real Estate Services for the banks. Larry also briefly worked for Van Schaack Realty selling commercial real estate which he really enjoyed. In 2001 he retired from Wells Fargo Bank.
During this time, he married his current wife Marie in September of 1979 and then in 1985 they had twin boys. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and dogs, traveling, gardening and attending all his sons’ athletic games and band concerts. He also loved going to classic car shows and even owned many over the years, as well as being in a car club called the Flying Wheels in high school.
The memorial services for Larry will be private but any donations in his memory can be sent to The American Heart Association or Rocky Mountain Multiple Sclerosis Center.
