Judy received a degree in teaching in the early 1970’s and was a dedicated elmentary school teacher with Jefferson County Public Schools for many years. She was a teacher at heart extending her skills beyond her profession. Her professional teaching career ended in 1983 when she had a stroke which was very debilitating, but which did not slow her down. After the first stroke, Judy coached and then managed the Free Birds softball team consisting of disabled children. It gave her great joy to see them play. She overcame many physical obstacles after having three more strokes throughout her life. Always on the go and up for most anything, even after the strokes, she learned how to scuba dive, snorkel, square dance, sail, and travelled to many foreign countries with her husband, Bill. Judy was an eager and vivacious participant in all the activities presented to her despite physical disability. Her life is an inspiration to us all. She modeled integrity and inspired her children by her loving, honest behavior. Most important, Judy was a humble Christian woman whose faith in Christ kept her strong to the end.
