Our Beloved Mother and Grandmother, Eva Jean Swindall was born January 6, 1944 in Elmore City, Oklahoma to Lillie Swindall where she grew up with her grandparents Ted and Effie Bae Swindall.
Eva enjoyed a comfortable life on her family’s ranch. She especially loved her grandma’s home-made biscuits and riding her horse, Tony.
She attended Douglas High School in Oklahoma City where she played basketball and worked at a local car hop. Following High School, she married and had two children, Larry D. Ferguson Sr. and Lisa R. Ford. As an army spouse, she lived in several different Cities eventually settling down in Denver, Colorado where she raised her children and her two granddaughters, Heather, and Erin.
It was also during this time that Eva obtained her nursing degree and worked in the medical field for over 40 years.
Eva served as the president of the Ebony Ladies and she was a member of the Red Hat Society Organization. One of her favorite sayings was, “I paid the cost, to be the BOSS!”
After retirement, Eva moved to California for twelve years, enjoying the California sunshine and spending time with her son. Eva would laugh when it was “Mommy and Me” time because she knew she would be going out to eat one of her favorite meals, buffalo chicken pizza.
She eventually moved back to Colorado where she spent time with her daughter and granddaughters until her passing on September 9th, 2024.
Eva was truly the heart and soul of our family and will be dearly missed. She will always be remembered as hard working, classy, honest, sophisticated, and self-sufficient. May Eva’s memory be a blessing.
Eva is survived by her son, Larry D. Ferguson Sr. (wife, Kara Ferguson), daughter, Lisa R. Ford, grandchildren, Heather U. Ford, Larry D. Ferguson Jr., Erin J.
