Vali I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Dan was an awesome funny man.  One of my favorite square dance partners. I don’t remember the story ,  but my girls still crack up thinking about him telling a story about a burning bush!

Dan was truly a big brother to me. It is hard to talk about Dan without including Valli.  Dan came into our family when I was 5 years old . I wore my first tie at their wedding. Throughout the years Dan help my parents out with many projects. He always showed his love by unconditional generosity. After my dad passed Dan and Valli always included my mom on one of their vacation adventures. I owe a lot to Dan and Valli over the years. When I was in college and down to my last $20, Dan invited me to live with him, Valli and John. He help me get a job at Swingle Tree Company. That was the start of Dan moving me back-and-forth from Laramie to Denver.  I became part of his and Valli‘s family.  Dan also move me to New Mexico for my first teaching job.  On that trip he was there when I met my future wife, Joann, for the first time. Over the years Dan and I tease each other about all those moving trips and me eating all their food. The moving wasn’t over, 20 years later Dan and Valli helped my son Garrett and his wife Shelby moved to Wisconsin to start their new life together. Just another family bonding trip. I’m very Grateful and touched for knowing Dan. My life direction could have changed the instant that $20 was spent. Love you Dan and I will miss you.

I could not ask for a nicer, kinder brother-in-law than Dan Cotter. Al (Junior) and I were able to enjoy several vacation trips with Dan and Valli. We were able to climb Mt. Ranier and Mt. St. Helen when we visited Washington State  with them. They came east and we visited Niagara Falls and Toronto. Dan was ever patient and cool even when we visited Toronto on its hottest day ever! We were planning on meeting up again this summer. I will miss his great stories , laid-back personality and kind heart. Rest in peace, Dan.

Uncle Dan will be missed by all that had a chance to be part of his life. Coming from 2000 miles away and about 30 years apart Dan and Valli always made me feel that I was Family and cared about me and my wife that they have never met. going to Sturgis a few years ago, as a biker, I felt a little out of place having Grandma, Dan and Valli along with my dad and stepmom, but Dan made us all at home. When it was time for me to get back on the bike for the trip back to VA Dan was there to make sure I had all I needed. He would have given me anything I needed. And the storys he told of the time we had missed together were priceless.      

THIS WAS VERY SUDDEN IN ALL OUR LIVES THAT LOVED AND CARED FOR DAN. WE LOVED HIS HUMOR HIS INTELLIGENCE .AND NOW HE IS GONE BUT HE WILL BE SO REMEMBERED .AND MISSED SO MUCH BUT HE IS IN A BETTER AND OUT OF HARMS WAY.VALLI WE LOVE YOU AND I HOPE IF YOU NEED AN EAR TO TUG ON WE ARE HERE AND IF YOU WANT TO GO CAMPING WE CAN GO AND ENJOY YOURS AND DAN'S FAVORITE PLACES. Whatever can I say about Dan that hasn't already been said.  He was such a good and caring man.  I could fill a notebook with all the wonderful things he has done for me over the years.  Not only the wonderful things for me, but for my Mom when she was still living and married to his wonderful Dad.  Then of course there were all the special times he helped me when my husband, Len was still living.  To many times and places to begin to list.

Looking at all of the pictures makes the tears start to flow.  Dan will  be missed by so many but no one will miss him more then  my brother Ted or I.   We had so many wonderful Sundays with Dan and Valli --- Breakfast or brunch out and then back home to play some great games - and then again on Wednesdays there would be lunch out.   

Valli  you will always have my love and support. I know how very much you will miss Dan.


Dan did not come into my life until we were both adults; however, he quickly became 'my brother" -- the brother I did not have while growing up.
He was always there for me, volunteering to help with whatever task I was facing.
The good times we shared will be treasured in my memory forever.
I was so blessed to have had him in my life and Valli was blessed to have had him as her husband.
Life will be quite different without him.  Just know, Valli, that I'm here to help you get through these tough days and all the days in the future.
