The Life and Legacy of Charlene L. Thibault
Please know the complications from COVID are real. Charlene was diagnosed in October 2020. She recovered without hospitalization, and the family was so thankful, feeling truly blessed. Charlene had been experiencing persistent extreme fatigue, bone pain tingling, numbness some chest pain, but nothing as she said “she couldn’t power through”. She went to the doctor because she thought her parathyroid was amiss again. Everything checked out. The doctor said they are seeing a lot of patients with the lingering after effects of COVID, similar to what Charlene was experiencing.
Charlene received both doses of the Modern vaccine. She had side effects, but was cleared her to come home. Charlene’s last dose was Saturday, March 6th; Charlene passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2021. Her daughter awoke to find Charlene in her bed. Charlene was feeling fine the night before, tired as usual, but nothing out of the ordinary and she said she was still feeling a bit “poopy” from the vaccination on Saturday.
Many knew the powerhouse that was Charlene Thibault, she was a force with which to be reckoned. Charlene was a single mother of three who completed many milestones in her life. At 60 she completed her undergraduate degree, and at 67 she completed her MBA. She had a thriving real estate career, worked in international business developing time shares in the Canary Islands, and in the last several years found her true calling working with AN (alternative needs) kids in DPS.
Charlene was a politico, the niece of Colorado Secretary of State George Baker, who until 2018 was the last elected Democratic Colorado Secretary of State since 1964. She was active in her House District serving as a Precinct Committee Person, as well as a community advocate, dedicated to ensuring equity and justice for all.
Charlene welcomed all into her home, she loved to entertain and was the consummate hostess.
Her daughter Michele said she is the woman she is today because of her mother, they were best friends. Her son Patrick is the gentleman with a heart of gold because of the love and encouragement he received from his Mother, and her son Matthew is a strong family man because of the example set by his mother. All were on the receiving end of a tongue lashing when deserved or were out of line.
Charlene is preceded in death by her mother Bernice V. Fry, RN, her father Howard E. Fry, her sister Barbara (Fry) Tossie and her brother George B. Fry. Charlene is survived by her three children Michele Fry, Matthew (Elena) and granddaughters Madison, Mylah and Isabelle Fry and Patrick Thibault. Charlene has one surviving brother Cyril (Sharon) Fry.
If there was a child hurting, young or an adult, she became their surrogate mom welcoming them to the family (Dalton Zuber). Valuing and deeply loving family, whether blood or chosen family.
Her family is devastated by Charlene’s sudden and unexpected passing. Prayers for strength are deeply appreciate, their mom was their anchor.
In lieu of flowers, support for funeral arrangements would be greatly appreciated. Any donations made above the cost of the funeral will be made to a children’s charity of the family’s choosing.
