Her family moved to Mildred, Texas where she enjoyed her high school years. Jeannie lettered three years in basketball, was a cheerleader, Homecoming Queen, and to her, the best honor was being voted friendliest girl.
While in Dallas, going to nursing school, she met her husband who was going to OCS at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. George and Jeannie were married June 5, 1943. After the war, George and Jeannie lived in Dallas and raised their daughter Linda and son Ron.
Moving to Midland and then to Corpus Christi, where they owned new car dealerships. While in Corpus Christi they bought their beloved Windwood Ranch and spent their retirement years with their cattle and flowers.
Jeannie is survived by daughter Linda Sneed and husband Richard of Denison, Texas; son Ron Young and wife Barbara of Rockport, Texas; grandson Donnie Young and wife Kelley of Houston, Texas; granddaughter Maggie Garza and husband Dax, of Houston, Texas; grandson Hunter Young and wife Leslie of Portland, Oregon and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister, husband George and infant son Donald Marshal.
Jeannie’s funeral will be Friday, May 30, 2014 at Waples UMC in Denison, with Dr. Jim Bowden officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., with the service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
