Funeral services for Hugo Arthur Litke will be held at 10 AM Friday, May 1, 2015 at Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison. The Reverend Mack Rogers will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, April 30 at Bratcher Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Michael Litke, Christopher Decker, Matthew Litke, Cory Litke, Daniel Allison, Jeffrey Stevenson, Kelson Stevenson, and Howard Litke.
Mr. Litke died in his home at Denison on Sunday April 26, 2015, aged 88, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Guardian Hospice.
Hugo was a long-time member of the Sherman Church of the Nazarene.
He was born on the 3rd of November, 1926 at Ujazdow, Poland to German parents. His family immigrated to Canada in 1929, settling in New Sarepta, Alberta. Hugo moved to the United States in 1952, and later became an American citizen. He served in the ministry for the next two decades after graduating from seminary. After retiring from the ministry, he entered the insurance business, and later owned and operated apartment complexes, motels, and a resort.
Hugo was preceded in death by his parents, Gottlieb and Wanda; brothers Adolf, Nathaniel, Herbert, and Waldemar; and sister, Irma.
He is survived by Iris, his wife of 68 years; son, Arthur and his wife, Sharon; daughter, Sharon and her husband, Rick Decker; son, Martin; and daughter, Carol and her husband, Robert Allison; eight grandchildren: Dawn and her husband, Jeffrey Stevenson; Michael Litke; Christopher Decker and his wife, Tiffany; Matthew Litke and Melissa; Candace and her husband, Joshua Curry; Cory Litke and his wife, Danielle; Daniel Allison and his wife, Marissa; and Faith Litke; twelve great-grandchildren: Kelson Stevenson; Zachary Curry; Ryan Decker; Ryan Litke; Emily Curry; Jacquelyn Litke; Tristan Allison; Allison Decker; Brody Allison; Kendall Litke; Jordan Decker; and Aiden Litke; and his sisters, Violet Kriger and Margaret Granger, both of Canada.
