Born in Brooklyn, New York to Morris and Sarah Levy, Al was the youngest of eleven children. He married Norma Hyman in 1946 after he returned from his military service in World War II. They were married almost 70 years until her death on January 19, 2016. Al is survived by his children Andrew (Phyllis), Ellen (Lee) and Barry, 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Throughout his 103 years Al loved life and was the eternal optimist. He was active in many community organizations including the Huntington Jewish Center, Jewish Community Centers Association, United Jewish Y’s of Long Island, and most recently, Gurwin Healthcare, holding leadership positions in all of them. A successful businessman for many years, Al left his mark on the lives of everyone he met, and was a role model to many.
