With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael "Mike" Joseph Broussard, age 64, of Delcambre, Louisiana. Born on December 26, 1959, to the late Herbert "Black" Broussard, Sr. and Neldine Thibodeaux in Carencro, Louisiana. Mike passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mike lived a life full of love, laughter, and craftsmanship.
A skilled roofer and exceptionally talented carpenter, Mike dedicated his career to the construction business, leaving behind a legacy of quality work and dedication. His passion for building was matched only by his love for the great outdoors. Mike found joy in fishing, spending countless hours casting lines and enjoying nature's beauty.
He was also a great pool player, often sharing friendly matches with his beloved wife, Christine. Mike's lighthearted spirit earned him the nickname "Jokester," as he brought laughter and joy to everyone around him. His infectious smile and quick wit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mike had a knack for cooking, especially when it came to making jambalaya or any dish featuring rice, a testament to his Louisiana roots. He took pride in frying the fish he caught, sharing meals and memories with family and friends.
Rest in peace, Mike. Your laughter and love will forever echo in our hearts.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Christine Segura; his children, Austin Broussard and Rebecca; Cody Segura and Helen; Alicia Bourque and Seth and Dallas Broussard and Lacey; his grandchildren, Kamren Earnest, Kaleb Segura, Katelyn Earnest and Karma Reynolds; one sister, Mary Campbell and Derek and three brothers, Bruce Broussard, Herbert Broussard, Jr. and Christine and Hewey Broussard and Melissa.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 10:00 am at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre. Deacon Patrick Burke will officiate. Mike will be laid to rest at 11:45 am on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Carencro.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Friday. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Saturday until time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Austin Broussard, Cody Segura, Dallas Broussard, Seth Bourque, Kamren Earnest and Kaleb Segura.
