DELCAMBRE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Leo J. Gaudin, Jr., age 88, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Fr. Nathan Comeaux will be the officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre on Friday February 20, 2015 from 5:30 to 8:30, with the Rosary at 6:30 pm led by Fr. Tom Vorhies. Visiting hours will be on Saturday February 21 ,2015 from 10:00am to service time.
Leo was born on April 18, 1926 in New Orleans to the late Leo J. and Catherine Stakelum Gaudin. He passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.
Leo was truly a family man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and uncle. A graduate of the former SLI, he employed his engineering talents to bring clean water and energy to all corners of our world. Leo retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron Company after a distinguished career. In his retirement, Leo loved repairing vintage Farmall tractors, growing his garden, fixing just about anything, boiling crawfish for family and friends and eating at Shucks every Friday night. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp and served his country during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Rowena A. Gaudin, children Kay Sullivan (John), Leo J. Gaudin III (Wendy), Linda LeBlanc (Paul), Margaret Gustin, David J. Gaudin (Beth), James R. Gaudin; 15 grandchildren: PJ LeBlanc, John Sullivan, Jared LeBlanc, Katherine Sullivan, William Gustin, Christopher Gaudin, Michael LeBlanc, Justine Gaudin, Renee Gustin, Sara Sullivan, Amanda Gaudin, Jamie Gaudin, Nathan Gaudin, Jennifer Gaudin and Anna Beth Gaudin; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Leo Gaudin III, David Gaudin, James Gaudin, John Sullivan, Paul LeBlanc and William Gustin.
Honorary pallbearers will be PJ LeBlanc, John Sullivan III, Jared LeBlanc, Michael LeBlanc, and Nathan Gaudin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Leo’s memory to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 206 W. Church St., Delcambre, LA 70528.
