NEW IBERIA - James "Jimmy" Edward Bourgeois, age 56, of Delcambre, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024. Born on April 5, 1967, he left this world surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
Jimmy, as he was affectionately known, had a passion for barbecue that extended beyond the grill—he loved sharing those delicious creations with his family. Family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished spending time with his many siblings, especially relishing moments with his beloved grandchildren. Despite his relatively young age, Jimmy embraced the role of being a wonderful grandfather, showering his grandchildren, Kaleb Migues, Devin Migues, and Briley Migues, with boundless love and care.
Beyond the barbecue, Jimmy enjoyed shooting hoops on the basketball court and had a heart of gold that touched everyone he encountered. His warmth and generosity were felt by all who knew him.
Jimmy is survived by his step-son, Steven Viator, and step-daughter, Krystal Waterson. He is also survived by his mother, Mildred Cobb Bourgeois, and his siblings: Willard "Joey" Joseph Bourgeois, III (Dea), Wayne David Bourgeois, John Anthony Bourgeois (Julie), Terry Lynn Bourgeois (Mona), Nancy Palmer Menard (Bernny), and Debra Ann Bourgeois Saunders (John).
He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Joseph Bourgeois, Jr., his grandparents, Gabrielle Bourgeois and Mildred Cobb, and his niece, Autumn Simon.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Evangeline Funeral Home, 314 East St. Peter Street, New Iberia, Louisiana 70560, on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
