DELCAMBRE-A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. John D. LeBlanc, Sr., the former Ada Claire Landry, age 100, at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.Fr. Herb Bennerfield will be the celebrant for the service. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Thursday until service time.
A native and resident of Delcambre, Mrs. LeBlanc passed away at 1:50am on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Iberia Medical Center.
Mrs. LeBlanc was a devoted Catholic who was an active participant at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Ladies Altar Society. Falling just six days shy of her 101st birthday, she was a wonderful role model and matriarch to her family. She loved cooking Sunday dinner for anyone who showed up and being able to spend time with them. She also enjoyed sewing and playing cards with her friends.
Mrs. LeBlanc leaves behind a long legacy that will be cherished by all of her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis LeBlanc Ledet of Lafayette; son, Patrick LeBlanc and his wife Margo of New Iberia; daughter in law, Cynthia Landry LeBlanc of Delcambre; ten grandchildren, Lonny Ledet; Leah Terro and her husband Lenny; Liz Romero and David Anslem; Laurie Manafi and her husband Jason; Brett LeBlanc; Ashley Meaux and her husband Bruce; Patrice Lopez and her husband Jarret; JoEllen Barras and her husband Rob; Jennifer Broussard and her husband Robbie and John LeBlanc, III; fifteen great grandchildren and one sister, Olga Landry of Delcambre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. LeBlanc, Sr.; one son, John LeBlanc, Jr.; parents, Fernand and Eleda Delcambre Landry; one sister, Rose Rogers and one brother, Earl Landry.
Pallbearers will be Brett LeBlanc, Jarret Lopez, Joshua Ledet, Nick Terro, John LeBlanc, III and Rob Barras.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Meaux, Lenny Terro, Lonny Ledet, David Anslem, Jason Manafi and Robbie Broussard.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Doctors and Nurses of Iberia Medical Center and all of her caregivers for their wonderful care and compassion.
