Joe E. Hernandez

Joe E. Hernandez, age 83, of Delano, California passed on September 11, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family, Born January 13, 1930 in Pearsall, Texas. He was one of five children of the late Timoteo and Tomasa Hernandez.

Our hero proudly served our country within the United States Marine Corps. for four years, this included a tour of Korea. He retired as a farm supervisor mostly in Kern County area. He enjoyed cooking, especially thanksgiving dinner, tamales during Christmas and cooking breakfast for his grandkids. In his spare time he enjoyed dancing, visiting his family, gardening and watching his favorite football team th 49ers.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Helen Hernandez who he adored along with five children; John "Myko" and wife Frances Hernandez of Delano, California, Nancy Hernandez (deceased), Ruth "Cuca" Hernandez of Delano, California, Rachel and husband Randy Green of Florence, Arizona, Diana and husband Gilbert Beltran of Visalia, California. Grandchildren, Emelio and wife Maureen Mascarinas, Christopher Mascarinas, Julie and Jacqueline Hernandez, Marcella, Randi and Joshua Green, Ryan and Martin Galvan. Great-Grandchildren, Xavier Green, Joseph and Marques Garza, Audryna and Siana Mascarinas. Four siblings; Frank and Ray Hernandez, Jennie Herrera, Irene Lopez, Macaria Leal; and many other loving nieces.

He loved life and lived it to the fullest, a man of many life experiences to give excellent advice any time we asked. He was an awesome person who would give you the shirt off his back. He will be missed by all who knew him. A strong man of faith he loved the Lord with all his heart.

A Celebration of life will be held on September 20, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church in Delano, California.
