Stella Gertrude “Gertie” Wilson was born 9/13/1928 and went to be with the Lord 1/28/2023. She is preceded in death by parents Jesse Warren “JW” Killian and Francis Lila Killian (East); husband of 69 years, Daniel Franklin Wilson; daughter Lena Jo Essick; nephew Jerald Wayne Killian Jr; sister Eva Jo Fansler-Bazemore; and nephews Joseph Fansler and Richard Fansler. She is survived by son David Wilson, brother Jerald Wayne Killian, sister Jessie Faye Booth, as well as 6 grandkids, 10 great-grandkids, 14 great-great grandkids, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Stella loved the Lord and most of all her family. She enjoyed reading her bible, playing the piano, listening to Gospel music, singing, cooking, knitting and crocheting (which she taught many to do!). She would always look for simple yet beautiful things she could make like safety pin angels and Christmas trees. She created and painted beautiful ceramics, she enjoyed baking and was an excellent cake decorator. She worked most of her life as an administrative assistant. She worked for a time in the cafeteria at Nicoma Park Elementary as well as for Bill Eisenhour where everyone then knew her as “Gravel Gertie”. Having moved around from one side of Oklahoma to the other she finally settled in Nicoma Park where she made many friends and reconnected with old friends.
Stella lived a fulfilling life, always giving and never doubting she was loved by so many and will be missed greatly. But now she is rejoicing with her family and our Lord. Every time we accomplish something new, we will remember you would always say “You are as handy as a pocket on a shirt”. So now we say to you – We love you, a bushel and a peck, with a kiss on the cheek and a hug around the neck.
A graveside service for Stella will be held Monday, February 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Arapaho Cemetery, Intersection of E 1000 Rd. & N 2270 Rd., Arapaho, OK 73620.
