Saundra was born on February 10, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to John and Lois (Self) Smith. She graduated from Southeast High School and Oklahoma City Community College, and for many years she managed the Printing Services Office for the City of Oklahoma City where she made close friends.
Saundra was well known by family and friends as a talented artist who could create elegance and beauty in plain, empty spaces with just a pen and ink.
Most of all we will remember Saundra’s boundless love for her animals. She took in homeless and needy pets for her entire life, and shared those animals with her family and so many others.
Through her art, and through her animals, Saundra touched many lives for the better. Let us always remember those brushstrokes of beauty she painted on our world.
Saundra is survived by her daughter Keir Rice and Keir's husband Tony, and three grandchildren: Haley, Anthony and Sam, all of Huntsville, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to be made to the Oklahoma Humane Society, PO Box 18471, OKC, OK 73154, 405-286-1229, okhumane.org/donate.
