Samuel Hale Browning, 88 of Oklahoma City, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018. Samuel was born to Albert Winston Browning and Etta Zanobia Hale on March 13, 1929 in Mill Creek Oklahoma. Following his high school graduation at Mill Creek High, Sam enlisted in the military and spent 40 years proudly serving his country. Sam served as PFC Infantry, Department of the Army from 1947 – 1948. He then became a Sargent, SAC Department of the Air Force, from 1950 – 1954. In 1954, Sam became a Chief Petty Officer (E8), with the Department of the Navy and maintained his stance until he retired in 1989.
Sam was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, where he served the Lord for 50 years as a Sunday school teacher. Sam was very proud of his Chickasaw heritage and proud to be a Dawes Roll Member of the Chickasaw Nation. Among other organizations, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge from 1963 – 2018 as well as the Sons of the American Revolution.
Samuel Hale Browning was a proud husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. Sam enjoyed some favorite things in life, which were automobiles, the OU Sooners, and camping. Among many things Sam was known by his many identities as a storyteller, teacher, he was a lousy golfer but he was definitely a man with a serving heart who loved everyone. Sam poured out the love from his heart and impacted those around him by sharing his love of Christ both by word and by example.
Sam is survived by his loving wife, Jolene of Oklahoma City, OK, daughter Debra Browning Fujimoto and son-in-law Peter of Atlanta, GA, granddaughter Lani Fujimoto, of Willits, CA, brother Zane Browning, and sister-in-law Judy of Oklahoma City, OK.
