Jean Doussett Woodie, 89, passed away March 24, 2025, in Oklahoma City. Born January 28, 1936, in Noble, Oklahoma, Jean lived a full and adventurous life, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, love, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Woodie; her parents, Lola and Raymond Doussett; her brother, George Doussett; and her cherished dog, Willie.
Jean is survived by her children, Steve Woodie, Rick Woodie, and Gary (wife Cherie) Woodie; her brother, Raybourn (wife Anita) Doussett; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who enriched her life as much as she did theirs.
Jean graduated from Noble High School. She married James at a young age and embraced the life of a Navy wife, moving frequently across the country. She lived in Oklahoma, North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland, always making a home wherever life took her. Jean spent time working at Holly Farms Hatchery, the University of Oklahoma, and ultimately retired from Griffin Memorial Hospital.
In the early 2000s, Jean settled in Del City, where she found a true sense of community. She cherished traveling with friends, attending church, quilting, and engaging in lively conversations whenever she found a willing listener. Jean’s love for her family was immeasurable, though it remained a mystery in her later years whether her favorite son was one of the boys or one of her beloved dogs, Willie and Toby.
Jean’s faith in God was the cornerstone of her life. She loved the Lord wholeheartedly and found great joy and fellowship in being involved with her church community. Jean cherished the friendships and spiritual connections she made throughout the years. Her faith was evident in the way she loved others, and her life was a testament to God’s love. Her legacy of faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Jean’s presence, humor, and love for those around her will be dearly missed. While she has left this world, the memories she created and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
