Hazel, 96, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 26, 2021 in Edmond, OK. She was surrounded by her daughters and friends. Hazel was born on September 10, 1925, to Silas and Leora Orene Ward in Byars, OK. On December 30, 1944 she married the love of her life, Vadis B. Carroll, in a little church in Story, OK. They farmed in the Maysville area until 1953, then moved to Del City, OK. There they raised their 4 daughters and resided until 2000, after which they moved to the Edmond area. Hazel retired in 1994 after 25 years with the Dana Corporation. Hazel was an avid gardener, but her greatest joy was being around her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Hazel was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband Vadis, grandson James Austin IV, sisters Ollie Benthall, Susie Miller, Margie Dennis, Gracie Johnson, Wanda Blake, brothers Melvin and Bill Ward, and son-in-law in heart Glen Gilley. Survivors include her daughters, Vivian Bradshaw of Edmond, Vickey Carroll of Midwest City, Vanessa and husband John Green of Enid, OK, and Valerie and husband Gary Tilkens of OKC; 6 grandchildren Melanie Ball and husband Jeff, Aaron Bradshaw and wife Ellen, Rachel Cohee, Gary Adam Tilkens and wife Jackie, Hilary Holmes and husband Greg, and Katie Duell and husband Bryan; sister Minnie Heard of Del City and brother Dan Ward, and sister in heart Francis Ward of Meeker, OK. She also has 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 10:00am with interment at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
