It is with profound grief that we announce the passing of Gary Lee Twitchell (1949-2023), who was just shy of his 74th birthday. Gary is survived by his adoring immediate family, his widow Dee Twitchell, his sons, Corey L. Twitchell and Scott M. Twitchell, daughter-in-law Ashley Carman Twitchell, and son-in-law Matthew W. Erhard. A great friend to animals, Gary is also survived by his two beloved rescue dogs, Gracie and Ziggy, and four grand dogs, Lola, Winnie, Cooper, and Nova.
Originally from Coffeyville, KS, Gary was a long-time resident of Norman, OK. While still a young man, Gary’s professional baseball career was forever interrupted by war abroad. A member of the US Army 1st Tiger Division, Gary completed two military tours in Vietnam and two in South Korea. After his military service, Gary and his wife Dee became successful small business owners in the grocery industry.
Gary was a joyous person, whose selflessness, tenacity, and lust for life were keenly felt by all whose lives he touched. He will be greatly missed. May his memory be a blessing, z”l.
A celebration of life TBA. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Gary’s memory to Mission K9 Rescue or Second Chance Animal Rescue (Norman).
