Doris “Jo” Joan Brown passed away at Inspire Specialty Hospital on February 15, 2024, in Midwest City, Oklahoma at the age of 87. She was born in Okemah, Oklahoma on July 23, 1936 to parents Casey Edward Wainscott and Georgia Pearl Leona Wainscott (Long). Jo moved to Weleetka, Oklahoma at the age of 5 and lived there until she married. She married her loving husband Johnny Wayne Brown on August 6, 1957, and they spent 66 years together. One of her proudest moments is having her son Michael Brown and all his accomplishments. Jo retired, from Clements Food, as a production worker. She had a love for baking, attending OU games, little league games and sewing. Jo enjoyed watching football, baseball and softball. Something Jo took pride in, was being the Block Captain for the Shalimar Neighborhood Watch Association.
Jo is preceded in death by her brothers George Wainscott (Madeline) of Del City, Oklahoma; Harold Wainscott (Francis) of Nicoma Park, Oklahoma; sisters Frances (Dolly) Wilson (Basil) of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Anna Wylie of Choctaw, Oklahoma and Mary (Neva) Hogue (Frank) of Del City, Oklahoma.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Brown of Del City, Oklahoma; son Michael Brown (Teresa) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren Michael Hogue, Amberly Teel (Joshua) and Aaron Brown (Dani); great grandchildren Easton Teel; Jet Teel; Maverick Teel; Taylynn Teel; Tyson Brown and Kynzie Hogue; 2 nieces and 6 nephews.
The family wants to give a special thank you to Inspire Specialty Hospital and ACG Hospice for the loving care they provided.
A visitation for Jo will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunny Lane Funeral Home, 4000 SE 29th Street, Del City, OK 73115. A funeral service will occur Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM, 4000 SE 29th Street, Del City, OK 73115 with burial to follow.
