Buchanan, Wilma (nee Jeffers), born August 5, 1923, Union Beach, NJ. Married Kenneth Neeld 1942-44: lived in Long Beach, CA: then for a period in Haddiesburg, Mississippi. Married Andrew Buchanan 1951, lived in Rosedale, NY. Humanitarian, activist, very involved in issues regarding integration and civil rights. Highly active in the NCCJ and NAACP in Queens. Moved to Freeport, LI 1968, and worked in various positions for the Village of Freeport, lastly as assistant to the mayor. Very active at First Presbyterian Church and within the republican party on LI. Always active, helpful, and on the go. Wilma is survived by her children: Jeffrey Neeld (wife Jeanne Neeld), of Charleston, SC; Elizabeth Buchanan, of N Babylon, NY; Joseph Buchanan (wife Suzanne Buchanan), Dix Hills, NY; Kim Buchanan (husband Jerry Scheck) of Poughkeepsie, NY: 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
