Family
Anthony John Fiore was known as Tony at work, Nino to his friends and Brother Fiore or Reverend Fiore to believers. He would have been 84 years old on July 26. He was born in Brooklyn NY to John and Betty Fiore, along with his sister Lucille. Anthony Fiore married Madeline Fiore on April 15, 1961. Madeline died July 31, 2023. Anthony and Madeline had five children; Timothy, Paul, Lois, John and Eunice. Nine Fiore grandchildren were Johanna, Martha, James, Jonah, Abigail, Deborah, Roe, Isabella and Angelina. Anthony has 4 great grandchildren; Anthony Zito, Allison Zito, Esther Szwed and David Szwed. He is also survived by nephews Salvatore, Anthony and Vincent Caravino.
Home
Anthony and his family grew up in Brooklyn, NY and after he and Madeline were married they bought a house on Melrose Street in Brooklyn. They moved to Ozone Park Queens in 1965, and moved to Westbury Long Island in 1977. In 2000 the family moved to Dix Hills, Long Island, the final resting place for Anthony and Madeline.
Work
Anthony considered his grandmother Anna Cappadoro Bivona to be the most influential family member in his life growing up in Brooklyn. Anna had one daughter Betty, Anthony’s mom, and seven sons; Joe, William, John, Frank, Vincent, Tony and Angelo.
Anthony’s first job was as a Heel Examiner at the Brooklyn Wood Heel Factory in 1956 when he was 16 years old. He worked for his seven uncles, including his favorite Uncle William. When the Brooklyn Wood Heel Factory went out of business, Anthony worked at the NYC Transit Authority, where he rose through the ranks from laborer to assistant deputy superintendent. Anthony retired after 30 years at 52 years old. After retirement Anthony worked at Morton Village, a Long Island strip mall, where he coordinated maintenance and building upkeep.
Church
Brother Fiore was raised as a child in a Catholic Church, where his dad was a deacon, but his grandmother Anna was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church on Trotman Street in Brooklyn, NY. Grandma Anna had great influence over Anthony, who, as a teenager, joined the new church whose Pastor was Joseph Roma. It was in this church that Anthony met Madeline and the Bellomo family. Anthony was a member of the congregation for several years, and met Brother Coleman in the 1960’s and was introduced to the message. After first meeting Brother Coleman, Anthony announced that they would become friends and they remained friends until Brother Coleman’s passing in 2012. Anthony joined Brother Coleman’s church and served as a deacon, assistant pastor, elder and pastor of the Local Christian Assembly until 2017. Reverend Fiore was asked by several believers to form a new church, United Bride Assembly, and he became Pastor in 2017.
Memories
Anthony will be remembered for his devotion to God, church, and family. He was loyal, dedicated and loved by all those he came into contact with. Anthony was selfless and tirelessly counseled and prayed for church goers, including visiting hospitals, prisons and preaching on street corners. Anthony performed countless weddings, funerals and dedications. His many personal stories that he passionately shared were a blessing to all those fortunate to hear them.
