I cannot even express my thoughts. To know that my dad and Dick won't be sharing those daily lunch time calls, breaks my heart. Dick was such a wonderful friend to my dad, and he was always so helpful to me when I needed advice, whether on insurance or in getting a job. He always joked to my dad, "has Meg gotten her gold watch yet?" with every new position I took, in his good natured, but sarcastic, lol, way. I will miss Dick. I know a lot of people will miss him. God bless the family. May peace and comfort be with you  .

Dick was always a great neighbor to my mother and family.  His twinkling smile could make your day. He will be missed. 

So sorry to hear about your loss.  My father Robert Wheeler was Richard’s cousin.  I remember my Dad talking fondly about his cousin “Dickie” and all the fun they had when they were young.

My deepest sympathy to Hazel, Toni, Russ, Suzanne and the extended Hardy family. I was saddened to hear of Dick’s passing.
I grew up just a short distance across the alley from the original Hardy homestead that was built by James Hardy in the late 1800’s in Ashland, Wisconsin. In their later lives, several of Jame’s kids moved back to the Hardy home and hardly a  day would go by without me seeing them all.  They were my great aunts and uncles.
Eva Hardy had a cabin in Iron River, Wisconsin, at which I spent many of my summer days. Evie would mention (Dicky) in conversations from time to time and always in a very positive way.
I also have the memory of a special white birch tree out in front of the cabin that had the initials DH & JH carved into it about four feet off the ground. I asked Evie who they were from and I remember her telling me Dicky & Joy Hardy. That tree stood all this time until a couple summers ago when it had died and fell over.
I know Dick will be greatly missed by family and friends.

I had the pleasure to meet Mr. Hardy on the golf course one day through his nephew Kevin. The first thing after introducing myself he reached into his pocket and handed me a shiny new penny. He said you use this on the greens marking your ball. A good luck. He was so gracious and  true gentleman. God bless you Mr. Hardy!

My prayers go out to the family of this sweet man.  Dick always had a big smile on his face & I jokingly called him Mr. Smiley.  Dick loved his wife Hazel, children and his friends and life.  I hope that your memories will help you during the days, months and years to come.

I was so very sorry to learn of Dick’s  death from Pat Landers.  She remembered Dick and Hazel  were good friends and called me to let me know.    After Don’s death I moved to South Florida and Pat relayed to me that quite often Dick would ask if she had heard from  me and if I was okay and happy.  That meant a great deal to me,  I’m thinking  of all the good memories and times at Burningtree Country Club.  Russ, a special memory of you and my Pontiac Grand Prix!




Dick knew what it meant to be a friend.  He had such a compassionate heart and was not afraid to show his love for others. To know Dick was to love him. He will be terribly missed.

So sorry for your loss, your in my thoughts and prayers. Richard was such a remarkable man. He took great care of Hazel. He was a joy to be around    Margie Christian.

He was my father's dearest friend for the past 50+ years. 
Always reaching out, visiting, making sure dad was okay, his other friends were okay. 
Actions certainly speak louder than words.
