James Gilbert Springer

James Gilbert Springer, age 86, of Athens, Alabama passed away on Friday June 26, 2020. James was born August 8, 1933 in Athens, AL. Mr. Springer is preceded in death by his parents James and Clara Springer, wife Jewel Springer, brother Marshal Springer, and grandson Stephen Speegle. Mr. Springer worked and retired from Wolverine Tube. He loved to work at home whether it be tending his vegetable garden, tinkering in the garage or keeping his yard looking nice. He enjoyed watching Alabama football, playing Rook, family vacations, and holidays with his family. No matter what he was doing, Mr. Springer was sure to shine in any room with his easy-going personality and playful sense of humor. Mr. Springer was an amazing husband, father, and friend. He was a life-long member at Priceville Church of Christ. He fulfilled his christian duty during his years of service to The Lord and through his example of a godly man. He raised his family to both fear and love The Lord. He spent his life devoted to God and his family.

James Gilbert Springer is survived by his: wife Mary Springer, son Jimmy (Debbie) Springer, son Rex Springer, son Michael Springer, daughter Christy (Roy) Goslin, daughter Renee Springer, daughter Deana St. John. He is survived by his grandchildren: Patrick (Jennifer) Springer, Robin (Chris) Collins, Jameson Springer, Danielle Hogue, Joshlyne (Tony) Villano, Adam Speegle, Rusty Fowler, Katelyn (Ross) Looney, and Amanda St. John. He is survived by his great grandchildren: Jackson Springer, Kandon Dugger, Jaylon Fowler, Camryn Ashford, Jaxton Hardiman, Kennedy Monroe, Levi Monroe and the expected Riley Ann Looney. He is also survived by Mary’s children; Benita Sweeney, Melissa Thacker and Samantha Sylvester. Mr. Springer has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept his faith. His work here on Earth is done.

Visitation for James will be held Monday, June 29, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Priceville Church of Christ. The Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, June 29, 2020 at 1:00 PM, Priceville, Alabama. He will be Laid to Rest will be at Roselawn Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Chris Collins, Rusty Fowler, Ross Looney, Tony Morgan, Patrick Springer and Jameson Springer.
