Funeral for A.C. Turner, 89, of Decatur will be Monday, August 22, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.T. Copeland and the Rev. David Stidham officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Turner, who died Saturday, August 20, 2011, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., was born July 18, 1922, in Hillsboro to Floyd and Essie Harris Turner. He was retired as assistant fire chief from the Decatur City Fire Department. He served as a deacon at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lavada Miller Turner; two sisters, Erline Turner and Eva Letson; one brother, Garth Turner; one son, Floyd Jackson Turner; and one great-grandson, Alexander Kirby Cole.
Survivors include three sons, DeWayne Turner (Linda), Larry Turner (Beth) and Anthony Turner; one daughter, Sue Henderson (Tommy); nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Decatur City Fire Department.
