Johnson, Walter C. Jr., (affectionally known as “Crow”) of Dayton, Ohio passed away Friday, October 16, 2015. Walter was a 1946 graduate of Waynesville (Ohio) High School. He was a technician at NCR and retired after 44 years of service in 1990. He also served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean war.
He is preceded in death by his parents Walter C. Johnson Sr. and Ethelyn Johnson, wife Virginia Johnson, brothers Dean Johnson and James Johnson, sisters Miriam Sullivan, Marilyn Lamb, Maretta Cole, and son-in-law James Jones. He is survived by his brother Richard Johnson, son Larry Johnson (Judy) of Oak Hill, Virginia, daughter Pamela Jones (Robert Cottrell) of Centerville, Ohio, grandchildren Matthew Jones (Heather) of Miami Township, Ohio, Jason Jones (Yza) of Otterbach, Germany, Sheridan Johnson and Lucas Johnson, great-grandchildren Yzabella Jones, Talon Jones and Hunter Jones and dear cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many friends.
Walter was a passionate University of Dayton basketball fan all his adult life and had season tickets from 1957 through 1994. He loved sharing stories of attending the Final Four in 1967. He was a member of the Alpha Lodge Scottish Rite for over 50 years.
Walter and his wife Virginia dearly loved to travel. He was blessed to explore 48 states, Canada, Mexico and Europe. He also served in England and Japan while in the Air Force.
Family and Friends may call at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, Ohio on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 7:30 p.m., Pastor Thomas C. Crank officiating.
