Troy Tipton, age 73, of Centerville, Ohio, went home to be with Jesus, Tues., March 5, 2024, after a very short battle with acute myeloma leukemia, surrounded by his family. He was born January 1, 1951 in Estill County, Kentucky, the son of Earl Ray and Carrie (Shuler) Tipton. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Tony, and his sister Mary. Troy graduated from Estill County High School. Troy worked at Detroit Tire from 1971 to 1974, when the bldg he was working in collapsed in the Xenia tornado — he was a true Michelin man! Troy then went on to work for, and retire from, Regional Transit Authority (RTA) after 30 years of service. He worked in maintenance, and was a very skilled driver, competing and winning several bus rodeos around the country. After retirement, he started a snow removal and landscaping business. He also worked alongside his brother, Tony, to help with work revolving around burials and mowing cemeteries. He loved being outdoors and particularly loved spending time in Kentucky on the farm. Troy was a musician and enjoyed playing the bass guitar at church. He was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, and always considered Kentucky his home. Troy was well-liked and had an outgoing personality. He attends Fairhaven Church in Kettering, OH. He loved the Lord and there is no doubt he is in Heaven with his Savior, his parents, his brother Tony, sister Mary, and countless other family and friends who have gone before him. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda of Centerville, OH, his daughter Stacey (Michael) Reitz, grandsons Carter and Hudson of Springboro, OH, his son, Brandon (Jennifer) and their children Jace, Brinley and Jolie of Riverside, OH. He is also survived by his brothers and sister: Chester (Eva) Tipton of Miamisburg, OH; Calvin (Judy) Tipton of Irvine, KY; Bobby (Jessie Lynn) Tipton of Irvine, KY; Martha Barnett of Winchester, KY; and Raymond (Kae) Tipton of Irvine, KY and numerous family members. Visitation will be held March 11, 2024 from 12 pm to time of service at 1 pm at the Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 118 Woodland Ave., Dayton, OH, with Dr. Jim Futrell and his youngest brother, Pastor Raymond Tipton officiating.
