Trent Allen Thompson, age 46, formerly of Columbus Ohio lost his long and courageous battle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, on Monday, June 13, 2022, but not without leaving his mark on this world. Trent was born in Dayton, Ohio to Terry and Carolyn Thompson on January 13, 1976. He graduated from Edison High School Richmond, Ohio in 1994. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1995 - 2000 as a 3rd class Petty Officer/Hospital Corpsman. He was a veteran of the Gulf War Era serving in both Desert Storm and Iraq. He also served in the 2D Marine Division at Camp Lejueune, NC via Field Medical Service School. Trent often spoke of his military service and how he did almost his whole tour with the Marines. He said “they always looked out for me.” He married Crystal Furbee in 1997. From that marriage, he had one child, a son, Jake Allen Thompson, 16. In 2007, he was working at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus, OH and was active in the Subaru Car Club of Columbus. He had a love of fast cars, Ohio State football and the Cincinnati Bengals. When he became ill, he moved to Fresno, CA to live with his father. As his disease progressed, Trent maintained his independence including through his use of the latest technology to stay connected to the world and most importantly his son. Jake is the reason he persevered and fought for so many years. He is preceded in death by his mother Carolyn Thompson. He is survived by his son Jake Thompson, Columbus, OH, father Terry Thompson of Fresno, CA, sister Tiffany Thompson of Toronto, OH, an aunt, uncle, nieces and a nephew. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 AM on Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Tobias Funeral Home – Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton. With the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial is in David’s Cemetery, Kettering Ohio.
