After she overcame a heart valve replacement and colon cancer, she eventually passed away from complications as a result of toxic infections (some may say of a broken heart). A special "thank you" to the physicians, nurses and staff who cared for Suzanne so compassionately.
She was born on October 29, 1934 in Grand Rapids, MI to Thomas and Mae (McOsker) Slattery. Suzanne graduated from Catholic Central High School, Grand Rapids, MI in 1953. Known as a tireless worker throughout her career, Suzanne initially worked as a switchboard operator at Michigan Bell Telephone Company. However, Suzanne enjoyed a 37-year career at the Early Childhood Learning Center (currently known as KinderCare) in Centerville, OH as a cook and bus driver. Over the years, Suzanne primarily enjoyed being around family and friends. This would take place through family get togethers over holidays, birthdays or special events, bowling leagues, camping trips at numerous state parks or just a simple visit for no reason at all. Suzanne enjoyed going out to dinner with other couples or just the girls. She was an avid "mall walker" and found friendships at the Mall at Fairfield Commons. Suzanne also enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports. It was this interest in sports that would have her watching any sport on tv no matter the time of day. This passion lead to her talking to the tv when she felt like the Reds Manager needed to pull the starter and go to the bullpen. From her recliner at her home she would yell at the tv "get him out...he's lousy!"
