Robert Andrew Ackerman, Jr., age 78 of Centerville died Friday, September 1, 2017. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant from 1962-1965, a 1957 graduate from Stivers HS, and a1961 graduate in Business from Ohio State University, where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He was briefly employed by NCR, Samsonite, Big Hill Realty-ranked top 10 in sales in the Dayton area during his first year. Bob and his partners founded Irongate Realty where he helped hundreds of clients buy/sell their homes. His career cut short with a devastating spinal cord injury in 2005. He was a member of Dayton Board of Realtors, Church of the Incarnation, President of the Centerville Optimist Club, Dayton Realtor of the Year 1986, Chairperson of the Alter Family Fun Festival 1989, and served on the Pleasant Hill Swim Club board for many years. Bob was preceded in death parents, Robert A. and Evelyn Gross Ackerman, Sr.; son, Trenton Allen Ackerman; and brother, Dr. Gerald Ackerman. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia Blackburn Ackerman, daughter, Lisa (Alan D.) Ackerman Guzik of Dublin OH; sons, Bradley M. Ackerman of LasVegas Nevada, Matthew R. Ackerman of Denver, Colorado; Grandchildren: Teresa Guzik, Mark Guzik, Joe Guzik, Ashley Ackerman, Alex Ackerman, Ryan Ackerman and Evan Ackerman; sister, Debbie (Roger) Ackerman Reeves; nieces and nephews, Michael (Amanda) Reeves, Heather (Mark) Okey, Nick Reeves, Bryce (Whitney) Ackerman, Chad (Kelly) Ackerman, and Lindsay (Doug) Ackerman Bivens; sister-in-law, Susan Ackerman; and his devoted pup, Sophie. Special thanks to the many lifelong friends especially. Doug Fox (deceased wife Patty), George and Jeanne O'Connor and health care providers especially Timothy Ahern, Angie Bakosh. He loved parades, parties, family gatherings, festivals, traveling, taking long walks, golfing with Patty and spending time with his grandchildren. Siesta Key was his favorite place in the world. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye football fan. He participated in a football fantasy league for many years and loved every minute of it. He hand-delivered Christmas gifts to hundreds of clients for over 25 years. He was a generous contributor to many charities.
