He was born and raised in Eaton, Ohio, was a graduate of The Ohio State University, served as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, and owned the Richard W. Fisher, Inc., custom home building company. Richard belonged to the National Association of Home Builders, Home Builders Association of Dayton, Ohio, Freemasons, was a Charter Member of Christ United Methodist Church, and was inducted into the National Association of Home Builders Hall of Fame in Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Willodene Fisher, sister Laura Jane Martz, and wife of 50 years Vera D. Fisher. Richard is survived by his wife of 17 years Margaret S. Fisher, children Suzanne (Fisher) Smith and Bill Diehm, and Terry (Fisher) Schmitt and Eric Schmitt. Grandchildren Andrew Lufkin, Matthew Schmitt, and Caroline (Schmitt) Zaremba, great grandchildren Corbin + Charlotte Lufkin, and Robert Schmitt. Stepchildren Debbie Slack-Finn, Doug Slack, and David Slack, their spouses, children, and great-grandchildren. Funeral service, 11 am, Wednesday, August 28 at Christ United Methodist Church, 3440 Shroyer Rd., Kettering, OH 45429 to be followed by a graveside service at David’s Cemetery.
