Pearlie was born in Hazard, Kentucky in 1921 to Dewey Campbell and Nancy (Stacey) Campbell, who had five children, Bessie (Melvin) Bayless, Pearlie (R.C.) Jones, Margorie (Charles) Murray, Truman (Pauline) Campbell, and Edith (Ray) Combs.
Pearlie married the love of her life, Ralph Columbus (R.C.) Jones in 1944 and they were married for 69 years. Her beloved only child, Kenneth Ray (Hazel) Jones, was born on September 24th, 1945, as a birthday gift to her, one day before her birthday, September 25th.
Pearlie treasured her grandchildren and loved being their “Mamaw”, never failing to cook amazing Thanksgiving and Christmas meals with her famous peanut butter and butterscotch pies. Her loving four grandchildren were Shawn Jones, Kenneth “Chris” (Tara) Jones, Jill (Bryan) Combs, and Jaime (Ryan) Barbieri. She had six great-grandchildren Justin Jones, Cameron Combs, Kaylin Combs, Kyleigh Jones, Kyndall Jones, and Luca Barbieri.
Pearlie was an active member of East Dayton Baptist Church and was close to her Pastor, Brian Kershaw and beloved church friends Mickey and Dennis Rutherford, and friends Anne Crowder and Lucille Roberts.
Pearlie was passionate about baking pies and making delicious meals for her family, friends, and church community. She worked at Muirs Drug store in Fairborn Ohio and was famous for her pies. She also loved quilting with her sister, Bessie and her mom, Nancy. Their quilts are family treasures.
Pearlie will always be remembered for saying “let me fix you something to eat” which was her love language to others. We couldn’t have asked for a better mother, grandmother, great-aunt, aunt and friend to all. We will miss her every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her in her amazing 102 years.
Pearlie is preceded in death by her siblings, her husband R.C., and is survived by her son Kenny and his wife Hazel, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Pearlie will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
