Paul is survived by his dear sister, Lorraine Loy, and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Rick and Deanna Papetti, and Robert and Janice Kohn. He was a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews: Melissa Loy Oakes, Roslynn Breen (Papetti) and Jake Breen, Benham Oakes, Lilian Oakes, and Vincent Papetti.
Paul’s educational journey began at Carroll High School, continued at Sinclair Community College where he earned a BA in Education, and culminated at the University of Dayton with a BS in Education. His passion for teaching led him to a fulfilling career as a substitute teacher in Dayton Public Schools, where he touched the lives of many K-8th grade students.
Paul's early years were filled with fishing, hunting, and a love for music, as he taught himself to play the drums and guitar. As he grew older, he found joy in running, tennis, and golf. Paul embraced life with enthusiasm, especially enjoying his time living at Yankee Trace. Fridays were special, as he loved going to Carvers for dinner and music, always dressed meticulously for the occasion.
Animals held a special place in Paul’s heart, and he rescued a dog named Pup Pup and a cat named Ms. Kitty. His compassion extended to people as well, as he never met a stranger and always had a kind word and a smile.
Paul treasured his vacations to Myrtle Beach, Panama City, and even traveled to Sydney, Australia to connect with relatives. His Catholic faith remained important to him throughout his life, and he attended St. Helen’s Parish and St. Mary of the Assumption Church.
As a long-term resident of Hillspring Nursing Home in Springboro, Ohio, Paul became a beloved member of the community, known for his love of coffee with two sugars and two creams, his trivia and music prowess, and his comforting presence to distressed residents.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Hillspring Nursing Home for their care, friendship, and dignity shown to Paul. They also extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses in the CICU at Kettering Main Campus for their compassion and support during this difficult time.
Paul Papetti lived a life full of love, joy, and kindness, leaving behind many fond memories for all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 10:00 AM until time of the Memorial Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Parish, 9579 Yankee Road, Springboro, Ohio with Father James Manning presiding . A luncheon will follow the Memorial Mass for all attendees.
