Loretta was born August 14, 1939, in Kettering, Ohio to Carl and Grace Collins.
Loretta had a deep Christian faith and a passion for children and music. After graduating from Fairmont High School, she married Jerry Morgan in 1960 and began raising two children. She earned her BA in Music Education from Wright State University at the age of 40 where she later earned a M.Ed. in Gifted Education. She also received a M.Ed. in Education Administration from the University of Dayton. Loretta retired from Germantown Elementary School after teaching music and gifted programs for 21 years.
Loretta was a member of Greenmont Oak Park Community Church for 70 years where she was discipled by Reverend Ray Hilty as a youth and supported by a loving congregation throughout her life. She served the church in many roles including adult and children’s choir director, youth group leader and church board member.
Lorretta is survived by her loving and devoted husband Bayard Liesch who married June 11, 1994 at the Engineers Club of Dayton among family and friends. Loretta is also survived by her daughter Sherry Voet (Tom), her son Jay Morgan (Kris), stepsons Jeff (Beth), Guy (Nikki) and Scott Liesch (Punkin), her sister Barbara Ericson (Joe) and her brothers Bill Collins (Judy), Steve Collins, Roger Collins and Mike Collins (Teri). Lorretta loved to dote over her 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Jerry Morgan (1990) and her sister Sharon Debord (2006).
Lorretta had a sweet, faith filled, affirming spirit that often drew strangers to her, particularly children. She always had a song on her heart and lips ready to share at a moment’s notice that would soothe and encourage those around her. Her teaching, church service and music performances allowed her to touch so many people in profound ways throughout her life. Her husband, family, friends and church are greatly saddened for the loss but feel so fortunate to have felt her constant love and support for all her years. We celebrate Loretta’s vibrant renewed spirit in heaven with Jesus.
