Keith was a very close friend and coworker 
He was the brother I never had

We are so very sad for Keith's family & all who loved him.

Paul (in Heaven, now) & I met Keith on a police matter in 1965. We became "same as family" a few years later. 
Our children played together,  we vacationed together-so many beautiful memories.
We were in awe of Keith's dedication, bravery & highest of ethical standards in his law enforcement career. Too, how he managed his second career-smart w/ penchant for details.
As a family man, the most loving & caring a father as any we knew & as a friend, the biggest heart, most thoughtful, Keith defined empathy. 
A gentleman, regardless of his occupational "tough guy" responsibilities.  We were proud to be friends.
We share the void, loving you all, but know his children carry all of the examples of goodness he set.

Your fathers passing leaves us with so many memories. He was a kind, generous man who gave much love to all he knew. May you be filled with peace, knowing how much he meant to so many.

We had a wonderful high school class of 1955 and Keith was one our classmates.  We are always sad indeed when we hear of one of ours passing away.  Sending my heartfelt sympathy to his family.  You have lost a hero.  I had heard of him being on the police force after graduation but had not heard of his years in the Marines.  You are surely so proud and fortunate to have had him in your lives.  He is in heaven and will always be with you spiritually.  God bless you all. Keith has been a friend of mine for over 50 years. Keith was the best Auto Theft Detective I have ever known. He will always be a "brother" to me and actually we were always told by others that we looked like brothers. I am a better person from knowing Keith both on the Dayton Police Department and in the private sector. If you were his friend, you were a friend for life. I will deeply miss my brother.

Detective Keith Kuhlman was a significant source of advice and security for me when, in 1976, I was the repeatedly hounded by a disturbed individual who broke into my home multiple times. I was a young single woman and he made it a point to reassure me. I would frequently see a Dayton PD car across the street from my house early in the morning making sure all was well. 

We finally captured this person when he attempted to break in at 4 am and the police arrived in time to take him into custody. I did not know him but he lived down the street from me. Throughout this ordeal,  Set Kuhlman kept me informed and reassured me that the system would work and I would be safe. The harasser was eventually convicted and sent to what used to be Lima hospital for the mentally ill.

He will always be a hero to me. I remember vividly taking a class at Sinclair in which there were several Dayton PD officers. I asked one of them if they knew Det. Kuhlman. I will never forget his response. "He's a helluva a cop." God bless him and my deepest sympathies to his family and those who knew him best. We'll never fully know how many people's lives he touched and what he meant to them. A loss for all of us. 

I was on DPD from 1960 to 1969 and Keith was a very good friend. Many condolences to the family.
