GOODWIN, Judy, aged 72, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 14, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 7, 1945 to Alexander and Anne Urban. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother George, and daughter Anne Louise. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dr. Charles Goodwin, daughter Emily of Toledo and sons Tim (Summer) of Miamisburg, Charles of Salt Lake City, and James (Marie) of Philadelphia, and cousin Marianne Leavitt (Mike) of Chicago. She is survived by her granddaughter Elizabeth Goodwin of Philadelphia and granddaughter Olivia Pennington and grandson Nathan Pennington of Miamisburg. Judy earned a BSRN degree from the University of Illinois and did complex pre- and post-operative surgical nursing at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago. She had a passion for education, wanting this for her own children and for others as well. She served the schools of Centerville as a library volunteer and PTO member. For many years, she decorated the schools for the holidays. She served as the president of the PTO at Magsig Middle School. She was a long-time member of the Centerville school’s Curriculum Advisory Committee and was the secretary of the Centerville Education Foundation for over 15 years. She was recognized with the Centerville-Washington Township Foundation Founders Award in 2014 for her volunteer work for the community. When her sons were in Boy Scout Troop 236, she was known to the boys as “Mama” when they often would call and say, “Mama, what’s for dinner? We are coming over.” Visitation at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-Far Hills Chapel on Tuesday July 17 4:00 to 7:30 PM. Funeral Mass at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in West Carrollton at 10:30 AM on Wednesday July 18 followed by graveside services at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
