Joyce Ann Bailey passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022, after a prolonged battle with dementia. She was born on July 5, 1935, in Xenia Ohio, the daughter of Wilson and Dorothy (Wagner) Brown. Joyce graduated from Stivers High School, Dayton in 1953. She married Melvin Bailey of Dayton on June 14, 1955. After their marriage, Joyce and Melvin moved to Xenia Ohio. After her husband tragically passed away in 1974, Joyce raised her daughters on her own and was proud that they both graduated from college. Joyce was a wonderful mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, baking, cake decorating and candy making. She worked for several years at Rax Restaurants where she was named Employee of the Year in 1984. She then joined the Defense Electronics Supply Center (DESC), Kettering Ohio, where she worked for eleven years until her retirement in 1996. While at DESC she worked as a Certified Acquisition Professional in the Directorate of Contracting & Production and the Directorate of Operations. She was awarded two quality step increases and six superior performance awards.
Joyce was predeceased by her beloved husband Melvin and her poodle of 18 years Bo-Bo. She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Kimberly Bailey and her husband William Walter, Valerie and her husband William Blake; and two grandchildren, Andrew Blake and his wife Madison, and Emily Blake.
A private service will be held at Tobias Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel, with interment at Woodland Cemetery in Xenia.
