John Edward Gross

Gross John E. age 66,of Bethel Ohio passed away Monday March 17,2014 at Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia Ohio. John was born January 3 ,1948 in Dayton Ohio to Francis H. and Laura Jeannette (Brown) Gross.He is preceded in death by his father, Francis, and is survived by his son Travis McFall,Travis’s mother Paula McFall Miller,Nancy Reenan (his much loved significant other),and her daughter Lauren, his mother Laura Jeannette ,his brother,Robert and Rebecca Chalmers ( significant other ),and many friends and relatives,too numerous to mention. John graduated from Fairmont West High School in 1966.He had a fascination with electronics, so during his senior year at high school he worked evenings, and weekends at a local TV repair shop, learning to repair tv’s and radios. After high school, he went to Radio Electronics Training School (RETS),where he also became an instructor for a period of time after he graduated. Along his fun path in life, he worked as a cameraman for WHIO-TV for a few years, had a partnership with a TV repair shop in Centerville (Video Sonics), moved to Columbus and worked for QUBE Systems, a cable tv company, Later he moved to Mason Ohio, and worked for Time Warner Cable until he retired. After that ,he did some freelance work for Time Warner, and worked part time for Central Satellite Services in Cincinnati. John loved waterskiing, camping, partying, and being around friends, and he was always smiling. If there is one major thing to remember, John never met a stranger, and he left a path of friends wherever he went. He will truly be missed, but he will always be watching us and smiling. Visitation will be Friday March 21,2014 from 4-8 PM at Tobias Funeral Home, Far Hill Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton Ohio.
