Meyer, Janet Marie (Eckley) passed away under hospice care at home Wednesday, April 22nd after long illness. Born on May 24, 1932 to the late Clarence Anthony & Elizabeth Amelia (Naber) Eckley. Janet is preceded in death by grandson Jack Andrew (son of Greg & Jenny), sister Joan and her husband Robert Zimmer and their son Robert Zimmer Jr., brother Edward and his wife Shirley (La Mar) Eckley and brother John Eckley and his son Tony, brother-in-law Norman and his wife Marcia Meyer. Survived by husband Richard L Meyer whom she wed on May 16, 1953; son Greg and his wife Jenny (Pesch) and beloved grandchildren Emma Marie and Samuel Gregory; son Thom. Also survived by brother Clarence Anthony Eckley (Jr) and sister-in-law Barb (Ready) Eckley (widow of John), brother-in-law Robert and his wife Barbara Meyer as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews and friends. Janet attended Bellbrook High School and St. Joseph Commercial High School graduating from St. Joseph in 1950. Janet worked at People's Bank in Dayton as teller before her marriage and after wedding Richard. After the birth of first child Greg, Janet assumed the role of homemaker and devoted mother. Janet was also a devout Roman Catholic attending daily Mass at Immaculate Conception parish. She was active at Immaculate Conception parish assisting Monsignor Sherman, Fr. McKenny and Fr. Filipine with the care of vestments, altar linens and the cleaning of the sanctuary. She also volunteered in the Immaculate Conception school kitchen during school days and at Friday night Bingo. Janet also lived her faith in corporal works, caring for elderly and infirm relatives and friends. Most especially Janet attended her mother Elizabeth, sister-in-law Shirley and brother John in their long illnesses. Throughout her life Janet was devoted to Our Lord Jesus and his Blessed Mother Mary spending time each day in prayer. Janet was also devoted to family, delighting in celebrations of holidays, birthdays, picnics and many informal gatherings of extended family and friends. Greatest among these joys were play-dates with her grandchildren Emma & Sam. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and servant of our Lord, Janet will be greatly missed by her family.
