Janet was born on January 8, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio to Fred and Velma (Loyd) Aydelott. She grew up in Kettering and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1960. After high school, Janet began to work for Globe Motors. She worked there for 40 years as an administrative assistant in the finance department. She probably would have worked longer but decided to retire to care for her first-born granddaughter.
On May 11, 1963 she married David Brun. Together they resided in Beavercreek and raised two daughters, Michelle and Jodi. Janet was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting others before herself. For many years, she supported Dave with his drag racing career and cheered him on to the finish line. Janet enjoyed cross-stitching, hair nights with her work friends, and taxi driving Michelle and Jodi around to their extra-curricular activities in “Old Betsy”. She was one of their biggest fans and supported them in anything they chose to do. Janet was one of the most selfless people you could have met.
After retiring from Globe Motors, she became a full-time super grandma. She changed the lives of her grandchildren in a way that no one could imagine. Janet cradled her granddaughters as infants, chased them around as toddlers, and walked them to and from the bus stop during their elementary and middle school years every single day. She could often be found dancing with the girls to her favorite oldies (especially Elvis) playing on the jukebox. Janet made an enormous impact on their lives and all others whose lives she touched. She loved everyone with an open heart and took in others as her own. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, and kind, caring, and patient heart.
Janet was preceded in death by her father Fred, her mother Velma, and seven siblings, Bill, Dick, Den, Don, Bob, Fred, and Jonelle. She is survived by her husband Dave, two daughters Michelle (Jason) Crabtree and Jodi (Greg) Simms, stepdaughter Tammy (Jerry) Strader, grandchildren Kayleigh, Kari, Kaycee, Jeremy, Josh, Jacob, grand-dog Daisy, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Beavercreek Tobias Funeral Home on Thursday, August 26th from 11 o’clock am until 1 o’clock pm. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1 o’clock pm. The interment will be at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery.
