Jane Martha Hall

Dayton, Ohio - Jane Martha Hall, aged 74, known for her unwavering support for her family and friends, passed away peacefully at home on November 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, to Martin and Marie Zinkiewicz, Jane grew up with her four sisters and one brother in a close-knit family. A devout Polish Catholic, she was an active member of Holy Family Church and cherished her faith throughout her life. Jane graduated from Patterson Cooperative High School, continued her education at Sinclair Community College, and earned her degree from Wright State University.

Jane met her husband Stephen Hall at age 19 and they dated for eight years. Jane attended her first Ohio State football game in 1968. She loved eating/socializing on High Street with Stephen and did not miss a game in Columbus for 15 years. Married in 1977, Jane and Stephen started their life together in a duplex off Springe Valley Pike in Centerville. Their early years were filled with bowling on Friday's with family, polka dancing at weddings, spelunking in Kentucky and playing "Not Necessarily Rum" with Mel & Peg Babcock every weekend. Jane and Stephen spent many years traveling across Europe, visiting the Blueridge Mountains and skiing at Beavercreek/Vail/Snowshoe, where Jane loved wearing her bright orange ski suit. Her role as a mother started in 1985 and it was one of Jane's greatest sources of joy and fulfillment. She always put her kids first and celebrated every milestone of Alexis and Chase. Her children often mentioned they felt blessed to call her mom.

Jane enjoyed a working career in logistics at Delphi in the 2000's and banking at PNC in the early 2010's. During these years she spent her personal time gardening, golfing, and traveling to Angola, IN for hot rod shows. In her last eight years, she enjoyed adventures of traveling in their motorhome affectionately named “Cruzin' Condo” across the United States. From the redwoods of California to the hills of Mountain Falls / Cashiers, Jane loved the experience of traveling alongside Stephen across the United State. Already a proud grandma to her grand dog, Watson, Jane was recently promoted to grandma to Vivian Marie Hall.

Jane faced a 16-year battle with cancer with unwavering courage and grace, ultimately finding peace. Regardless of the battles she fought or how she may have felt, Jane always greeted everyone with a huge smile and a warm hug. She deeply valued her friendships with Mel and Peg Babcock, Bill and Mary Nissen, her siblings, and her girl cousins, as well as the cherished community of the BORO Moms. Jane loved hosting Christmas parties for her family, friends from the University of Dayton Business School, and SBORO friends, always ensuring everyone felt welcome and like family.

Jane is survived by her husband, Steve Hall, who she was married to for 47 years. Together they raised two children, Chase (Megan) Hall and Alexis (Brian) Hall. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Vivian Marie Hall and her dog, Watson Zeke Hall. She is survived by her sisters, Kay (Dick) Harrison and Pat (George) Rike; her brother, Martin (Matet) Zinkiewicz; her sister, Margie Zinkiewicz (BB); and her sister-in-law, Sandra Yearick. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Ann (Daryl) Ballweg, and her parents, Martin and Marie Zinkiewicz.

Jane epitomized kindness and had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed and cherished. A woman of deep faith, Jane loved her husband and children dearly, always putting her family first. Now, she rests in the loving arms of God.

The family will receive friends on Monday November 18, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm at the Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45429. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Tuesday November 19th at 11:00am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 9579 Yankee Rd., Springboro, Ohio 45066. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
