Frank was born on August 24, 1932, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Roger Bacon High School and the Ohio College of Applied Science. He was drafted into the Army in 1952 and served as a diesel mechanic in Greenland during the construction of Thule Air Base.
Frank was employed by IBM for 33 years where he formed many lifelong friendships. He loved fishing with his IBM buddies, making yearly trips to Lake Erie and Whitehaven, Canada.
His unshakeable faith was an example for all who knew him. At the age of 12, after Frank's father passed away, the Catholic priests became the most important men in his life. Frank was truly a family man who treasured his wife and six children. They enjoyed camping, hiking, boating and exploring the USA. He loved photography and having slide shows for his family. He played the accordion from an early age entertaining many. Most remember him as quite the storyteller. He and Lena Joy enjoyed time spent with lifelong neighbors especially Dick and Marilyn Welch and John and Ann Drayer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Lena Joy, Father and Mother, Frank and Jennie Scholle, sister Rose Murray, and many other friends and family. He will be greatly missed by his daughters Sarah (Tom) Colston, Mary (Richard) Callahan, Linda (Paul-deceased) Thatcher, Jean (Mark) Stemmer and sons Michael (Judy) and Patrick (Veronica). Frank had 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Loved ones may call at Incarnation Church on Thursday, November 21, 12-1pm with Mass of the Christian Burial at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Catholic Relief Services.
