Hankey, Eleanor C., age 86 of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dominic and Maria Annese. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Dr. Wilbur Hankey. She is also survived by a son, Robert and wife Nancy Hankey and two daughters: Judy Batty and husband Bill and Mary Scurria, as well as two sisters; Betty Wagner (Robbie) and Anne Aledda. Seven grandchildren survive her: Jessica, Megan, Robbie, Stephen, Matthew, Catherine and Taylor. Eleanor was born in Boston, MA on September 17, 1927 and married Will on May 1, 1954. She was a charter member of St. Helen Parish and a longtime member of Walnut Grove Country Club. She loved cooking for others and brought joy to those who feasted on her amazing Italian food. As a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor, she will be remembered for her sweet, kind disposition and selfless heart. In keeping with her altruistic nature, Eleanor has bequeathed her body to Wright State University. A memorial service to honor her life will be held at 2:00 on Saturday at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd. with Fr. Dave Brinkmoeller celebrant. The family will greet friends and relatives at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Eleanor’s memory to St. Helen Catholic Church, 605 Granville Ave. Dayton, OH 45431.
