Don was born on January 11th, 1941 in Jamestown, Ohio to Lawrence Mason and Ester Humphrey. He worked for the railroad and the city of Beavercreek. Married to Donna (Perkins) for 37 years. Together they raised their three sons, Lantz, Shawn and Michael, and three daughters, Kim, Bonnie and Connie.
Don had a passion for helping people. He loved his family, fishing and devoting his time to the Xenia Masonic Lodge, Moose Lodge 73 and American Legion 763. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Mason Humphrey, his mother, Ester Humphrey and his stepson Michael Collet. He is survived by his wife Donna, his five children, Lantz, Kim (Maurice) Simmons, Bonnie (John) Hunt, Connie Matthews and Shawn (Jen) Perkins, his dog Chloe “Pookey”, his grandchildren April Matthews, Lynn Hines, Tyler Perkins, Shaunda Hunt, Jake Perkins, great grandchildren Shelby and Zachary Matthews, Aurora and James Hines and Jack Edward Lee Hunt, his sisters Cheryl Ann (David) Mangan, Carolyn Stouder, and sister-in-law Debbie (Perkins) Truman, nephew Tom (Kayla) Kettlehake III and niece Ashley Truman.
There will not be a funeral service, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of Dayton.
